Hey I'm a make up artist but I have never had any counter experience and I can't seem to get a job where I live doing a counter job because I have ''no experience''. Where is the best place to start gaining experience for a make up counter job? I've been a make up artist for only 1-2 years. I do freelance work but now I need full time. Also what're the jobs like over where you live? I live in NZ so it's quite small and hard to find places.

if you don’t want to enter cosmetology courses, start taking photos and creating a portfolio of the freelance work you do! hands on experience is the best! but you definitely need to be able to show what you’re capable of!

here in the US, jobs are extremely competitive because of the economy and the amount of people that live here. Southern California is sort of the hub for film and print so there’s an abundance of makeup artists! but if you’re talented and driven, you can nuzzle your way in!
